Switzerland! I do not think any other word out there would be required to describe the country other than the name “Switzerland” itself. Having said that, it is home to innumerable majestic mountains. Swiss Alps are the highest mountain range in Europe that distributed over 8 nations!
So, today’s post will be all about one of the spectacular Swiss Alps – “Savognin”. Located in eastern part of Switzerland, the mountain has awe-inspiring views. With its large ski area and steep ravines, the destination is paradise for skiers and snowboarders. Besides winter sports enthusiasts, a number of walking trails along with spectacular view also lure trekkers.
Our journey started from Germany before the sunrise. Drive midst urban area, hamlets and the craggy Alps undoubtedly made the ride full of oh-wow moments. It took a good three and a half hours drive to reach Savognin. Standing amidst foot of vast mountains left me dumbstruck for a while.
Reaching the top of the mountain was possible either by trekking for few hours or by a gondola, which takes hardly few minutes. As we had only one day to explore, we ended up using gondola. Once you are on top, activities to choose from are vast. If you want to just sit and relax amidst mountain, enjoy the beautiful view while sipping a cup of coffee or beer with your loved ones, the place has few restaurants, beer gardens with open-air live music. If you are a winter sports aficionado, you would certainly enjoy every bit of your time.
Never tried winter sports but you are looking forward to one? Here you go, you can even enroll yourself for a short session and start skiing right away! ? On the other hand, if you are a person like me who embrace hiking, you can pick any dedicated trail to hike down the hill. The Trails will pass through a hamlet where you can take a break and refill your stomach before moving forward, and that is what we chose ? Here are few photos of our walking trail passing through the beautiful landscape.
